Announcing community microgrid

On Friday 25 March we announced an initiative to build the first community microgrid for the NSW South Coast at Bawley Point and Kioloa. It was great to see so many people at the Kioloa/Bawley Point Community Centre as Endeavour Energy's CEO, Guy Chalkley, and Chief Asset and Operating Officer, Scott Ryan, announced plans to work with the community to establish the microgrid.

The microgrid will be a local energy system that will draw electricity from renewable sources such as solar panels and batteries. While it will be connected to the main electricity grid, it will be able to operate independently during outages, providing a consistent power supply to local customers.

During the event, Mr Chalkley presented Bawley Point Fire Captain, Hendrik Boone, with the first battery to recognise the selfless work of the volunteers who protect the community of Bawley Point and surrounding areas.

We encourage you to register your interest in participating in the Bawley Point and Kioloa community microgrid. We will soon be sharing opportunities to take part in the community consultation process.
