  • Testing and Commissioning

In just a few months, we will launch the first community microgrid of its kind in NSW. The microgrid at Bawley Point and Kioloa will provide a reliable, stand-alone and renewable electricity supply to around 1,500 residents.

When it's operational, the microgrid will act as a self-contained energy system, harnessing electricity from renewable sources like rooftop solar, home-based batteries and a 3MW grid-connected battery, strategically positioned between Bawley Point and Kioloa. This configuration will empower the microgrid to operate autonomously during outages, forming an island of power for the community.

To ensure everything is operating as it should, we will be conducting a series of tests over the next month. For more information please read the Testing and Commissioning FAQ.

We are excited to share that the first residential battery for the Bawley Point and Kioloa microgrid was installed on 12 December. In just one week, more than 20 systems have been installed as part of the first wave by Glenn and his team from Sunny Afternoons.

The microgrid will help to provide a resilient, renewable, and reliable power supply to the coastal communities of Bawley Point and Kioloa.

All 89 site inspections for the first wave of applicants have now been completed and residents and homeowners who submitted an EOI to be part of the Bawley Point and Kioloa microgrid have been contacted.

If you have submitted an EOI but have not been contacted by Endeavour Energy, please email yoursay@endeavourenergy.com.au and leave your contact details.

We encourage you to stay up to date with all the latest news, FAQs and events via this site. Make sure you click on the 'follow project' button on the right.

We will be holding an additional Community Workshop at the end of February so please watch your emails for confirmation of the date and registration details.
